Our Slow Slide Out Of Normal
The Trump Administration has not been normal. It is not normal for American citizens to fear persecution for their race, religion, or orientation on a daily basis. It is not normal for the Preisdent to use his office to serve his own business interests. It is not normal for our government to be disfunctional to the point of humor. This is not normal.
It is easy to lose track of this. The slide out or normality happens slowly. Each day is just a little odd, but over time we drift from who we are as a nation.
The Trumpocalypse Project is my way of tracking this slide. It can't be complete—there's too much happening. This is my log of how each day feels a little less normal.
I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.
— Abraham Lincoln, First Inaugural Address
